Acceptance or Exclusion?

AcceptanceThis feature explores the experience of gays who were raised Catholic but left the church because of its stance on homosexuality, and examines a document that had just been issued by Catholic bishops calling for more acceptance. This story earned me a national first place for feature writing in the 2006 Mark of Excellence Awards. doc

Gov. Blunt sued over canceled contractsGov. Blunt

An example of a breaking news story. I currently work as an editor, but one night a writer was needed so I switched hats. This story is about a lawsuit filed against Missouri’s governor. Initially published online and in the paper the next day, my story was the first in the state. AP and competing newspapers picked it up later. doc
